Survey: Over 70{9fa2ae831048424756faedea87f44870cd2ea6d09bcfab62eb5dabc6b233e172} Of European Consumers Are Indifferent To AI And Think That Society Is Not Ready To Accept New Technologies

Reaction to advances in AI technology has been largely positive in the tech world, but whether the general consumer will accept it is another matter.

A recent survey agency pointed out that although European consumers are interested in AI, most think that society is not ready to accept this new technology.

A recent survey of 1,000 adults by decision-making research firm Morning Consult Pro in five key European markets, including France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom, found that a majority of respondents felt society was not ready to accept AI, 74{9fa2ae831048424756faedea87f44870cd2ea6d09bcfab62eb5dabc6b233e172} of the French and 70{9fa2ae831048424756faedea87f44870cd2ea6d09bcfab62eb5dabc6b233e172} of the Germans have this idea respectively, and most of them are because of distrust of AI processing personal data, believing that it will cause the spread of false news, endanger children and personal privacy.

Regarding the EU’s intention to implement strict AI laws, more than half of the respondents believe that AI should be more strictly regulated. This is the most significant result in Spain and the United Kingdom, accounting for 66{9fa2ae831048424756faedea87f44870cd2ea6d09bcfab62eb5dabc6b233e172} and 64{9fa2ae831048424756faedea87f44870cd2ea6d09bcfab62eb5dabc6b233e172} respectively.

Jordan Marlatt, principal technology analyst at Moring Consult Pro, said companies looking to integrate AI into their products and services should be aware of where consumers’ bottom line is and avoid resentment.
