Nintendo’s New Game Console Rumored To Be Released In 2024 With The Same Emphasis On Portability And LCD Screen

According to VGC, the development tools for Nintendo’s next-generation game console have arrived at major partner studios and will be released next year.

According to the news, this Nintendo’s next-generation game console, or now known as “Nintendo Switch 2”, will be the same as the current generation of Switch, which is easy to carry and suitable for playing at home. It can be released to the public as soon as the second half of 2024, and Nintendo will take measures to avoid the situation of insufficient supply of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in the initial stage of release.

VGC said they received two messages confirming that the first version of this new machine uses an LCD screen to reduce costs. Especially considering that the console will have more built-in storage space to support games with larger and larger capacities.

Currently, the Switch only has 32GB of built-in storage. Inheriting part of the design of the Nintendo Switch, the new machine will also be able to insert cards to play physical games.

As for whether the new machine can be backward compatible with Nintendo Switch games, the source said it is still unclear.


In May of this year, according to Nihon Keizai Shimbun citing a source very close to Nintendo, Nintendo is successfully developing a next-generation game console, but the news at the time estimated that the new machine will not be officially released until next spring or before.
