Ronin Is Not Coming On PlayStation 4, It Will Be Exclusive For PlayStation 5

In March, Japanese magazine Famitsu revealed that the action RPG has been in development for seven years – explaining the good level presented when announced in 2022.

Announced in September’s State of Play, Rise of the Ronin is a SIE-backed Koei Tecmo project with confirmed release for PS5.

However, some players still had hopes that the game could show up on PS4. Already take the horse out of the rain, as this is not the case.

In updating the game’s page on the PlayStation website, Sony reported that the action RPG will be exclusive to the new generation. Read the response from the Japanese giant in the “frequently asked questions” section:

No. Rise of the Ronin will not be available to play on the PlayStation 4 console.

The game’s story takes place at the end of the 300-year Edo Period, near the end of the 19th century. Japan faces a crisis, having to deal with “oppressive rulers and deadly diseases as Western influence spreads and a civil war rages between the Tokugawa Shogunate and opposing factions.”

Rise of the Ronin is in development at NiOh and Ninja Gaiden’s Team Ninja and Sony XDEV. The expected release date is 2024.
