Maserati Unveils MC20 Cielo; The World’s First Smart Glass-roof Sports Car

Maserati, the world’s leading Italian ultra-luxury car brand, is officially announcing the world’s debut of its new masterpiece, the MC20 Cielo open-top sports car.

This means that the arrival of the new Maserati MC20 marks the manufacturer’s determination to return to the realm of supercars. For the MC20, the next chapter in its growth is the all-new MC20 Cielo, the highly anticipated open-top version of the Maserati butterfly-door supercar.

Interestingly, the car Cielo means “sky” in Italian, which means that the owner can see the most from the driver’s seat, whether it is upward or otherwise, thanks to the retractable The glass roof provides a view of the sky at all times.

Not only that, it only takes 12 seconds to open and close the roof, and it is equipped with a 10.3-inch Android touchscreen, and the polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) smart glass can instantly switch from transparent to opaque.

The new MC20 Cielo has the same old-style solid roof as its sister cars. However, many critics on the car sticker seem to form a strong conflict with Cielo’s smooth, restrained aesthetics. Fortunately, Maserati released clarification that owners can choose not to do such decorations.

When it comes to sports cars, one of the reasons why many people love it is power, and it is understood that the sports car is equipped with a Nettuno engine, which can output up to 621 horsepower from a 3.0L V6 engine with the help of a twin-turbocharger. and peak torque of 730N·m.

A true supercar for the 21st century, the MC20 debuts with a new 360-degree camera, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign information, all part of the driver assistance suite. Plus, it features parking sensors, a rear-view camera and blind-spot monitoring, all part of the MY22 MC20 Coupe package.

And the unique butterfly door is not only separate from the carbon fiber, Alcantara and leather soaked two-seater cockpit. When the driver walks in, he is greeted by an Alcantara-trimmed sports steering wheel and a 10.3-inch digital instrument panel. The dual-clutch eight-speed gearbox’s paddle shifters are within reach, and the blue engine start button beckons in its place to the right.

A new five-drive mode selector in the form of a touch button is located on the center tunnel. The optional Sonus Faber 12-speaker premium audio system automatically adjusts timing, equalization and sound levels based on the open/closed position of the MC20 Cielo roof to maintain precise, seamless audio performance to suit the real-time interior environment.

As the new benchmark for Maserati’s return to the world of sports cars, no price was announced at the Cielo Auto Show, but it is expected to be priced on top of the $212,000 MC20 coupe.
