The market research agency IDC recently released the Japanese mobile phone market report for the first quarter of 2023, including the overall mobile phone market for feature phones.

Kyocera announced in mid-May that it would stop producing consumer-grade mobile phones and only retain the enterprise mobile phone business. They admitted that the mobile phone business is unprofitable.

Some analysts pointed out that Chinese brands are attacking the Japanese market with cheap mobile phones, which is one of the reasons for Kyocera’s withdrawal.
