BMW Pushes Special Smart Glasses For Motorcyclists, Priced At 600 Euro, Can Also Display Navigation And Speed Data

Car brand BMW recently unveiled a pair of smart glasses called ConnectedRide, designed specifically for motorcyclists to provide more information about road conditions without requiring them to take their eyes off the road.

The smart glasses look like ordinary sunglasses, and important data such as navigation, speed, and gear can be projected on the right lens. This is very similar to the head-up display offered on BMW four-wheelers, presenting key information where the rider would otherwise be looking.

The information position of the glasses can be adjusted according to the needs of each rider and can be connected to smart devices via Bluetooth. Via the BMW Motorrad Connected app, they can display GPS data and much more.

The ConnectRide smart glasses are specially designed for motorcyclists, and BMW offers them in two sizes (medium and large) to suit various face shapes, and can fit comfortably inside a variety of helmets.

Additionally, the glasses come with two different sets of lenses for different helmet visors. One set of lenses, for example, is 85 percent transparent and designed for use in helmets with integrated visors. Both lenses are UVA/UVB certified and can be customized to individual prescriptions (+/- 4.5 degrees) if riders require glasses.

The glasses are powered by an integrated lithium-ion battery that can last up to 10 hours at a time and can be recharged via a USB cable. They can operate in temperatures as high as 122°F (50°C) or as low as 14°F (-10°C).

Considering the technical content, these glasses are not cheap, and the suggested retail price of ConnectRide is 690 Euros.
