iOS 17 Will Turn iPhones Into A Screen To Manage Smart Home Accessories

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, one of the most reliable sources ever when it comes to Apple previews, has just unveiled a large amount of information and news that should arrive with iOS 17.

IOS 17 AND A SMARTER LOCK SCREEN

According to Mark, in iOS 17 there will be a lock screen that can determine the orientation of the smartphone. In this way, when the iPhone is not in use and is positioned horizontally on a charging support (MagSafe or wired), a completely new interface will appear which will allow us to manage all the accessories of our smart home, imitating the functions of home automation hubs such as those offered by the Amazon Echo Show or the Google Nest.

Apple is also working on a horizontal interface for the iPad but the work, once again, could end at a later time. Basically, even iPadOS 17 may not be ready for September.

IOS 17 WILL HAVE BETTER CONNECTIVITY AND A NEW WALLET

Very few details about it but Gurman claims with absolute certainty that with iOS 17 the Wallet application will be updated and will get significant changes. It will also improve the Find My app with all its location services for devices and objects.

In terms of connectivity, there will be updates to the SharePlay feature, which allows users to stream audiovisual content simultaneously with friends via a FaceTime video call. The same goes for the AirPlay protocol: it would seem that Apple is actively working with some hotel chains so that users can be able to reproduce their content on the TV or on other devices in the rooms.

IOS 17 WILL HAVE A NEW JOURNALING AND MOOD TRAINING APP

Finally, iOS 17 should include 2 new applications. The first, the journaling app, should allow you to take notes with a very present social element. Gurman doesn’t offer us details other than that the app is supposed to help users keep track of their daily life, analyze user behavior to establish what a “typical day” looks like, how much time is spent at home, how much the smartphone, and when a day turns out to be out of the norm.

Following the analysis, the app will offer suggestions to improve lifestyle, can recommend physical activity, outdoor trips and much more.
